Africa Cup of Nations: The Democratic Republic of Congo surpasses Guinea and advances to the semi-finals
The Democratic Republic of the Congo qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Guinea by three goals to one in the second quarter-final match.
Lille striker Mohamed Bayo opened the opener for Guinea 20 minutes after the penalty mark, but Congo's response came quickly after 6 minutes with Chancel Mbemba taking advantage of an error in Guinea's defenses and scoring an equaliser, and the situation continued until the end of the first half.
In the second half, Ibrahim Kony scored the goal to advance Congo in the 65th minute and Arthur Masuaku returned in the 82nd minute and added the third from a wonderful direct free kick that deceived the goalkeeper, giving his country a historic qualification and ending with it the dream of the Guinea national team.
